2017 is around the corner, as much as some of us would like to admit. Everyone is getting their resolutions in order and thinking, “this year will be better than last!”

The reason why your resolutions fall apart is because of one simple thing; ORGANIZATION!

Many times we list the things we would like to accomplish or work on but forget that in order to get there we have to have steps that we can take. You cannot just want to lose 10lbs or land a job without working towards those set goals.

Here are some ways you can improve your organization skills in 2017.

Wake Up Early:

Waking up early will improve your 2017 by a long shot. The reason? Waking up early gives you a head start on your day. There is a lot of time in a day, when you properly utilize every single minute.

Create a Schedule:

Schedule yourself. Every morning when you wake up, get your planner and write down or review everything that you need to do that day. (These are not big goals but smaller goals that are pieces to a bigger picture. For an example, researching schools and creating a list. That could be a task in your planner but it is a small piece to you deciding what grad school you would like to attend, and that fits you.)

Staying on Task:

When you create a schedule, actually do what’s on the schedule. DO NOT WONDER, or think that you should do something else that could have been on your schedule. Leave some work for the next day.

Do Not Try to be a Superhero:

Pace yourself. If you have 100 things to do this week, spread them out. Trying to cram everything into one day will just overwhelm you.

Give Yourself a Break:

If you finish all of your work, do not attempt to do things that are meant to be done later that week. You need to relax, sometimes you just need a break.

Eat Better:

Eating healthier will increase your energy naturally, which will help you get through the “busy” day.

Drink Lots of Water:

Water is just a really great healthy habit to have, so drinks lots of in 2017.

Get Some Rest:

I know this one is hard, but try sleeping for 8 hours. This means going to bed early, so give yourself a bedtime.
