The Thoughtful Gift

Let’s be honest, relationships are hard. Whether it’s with your parents, siblings, or best friend. Two or more people coming together and compromising, that’s not the easiest thing to do.

Though it could be very difficult there are many ways that you can push through it.
A couple of days ago I was very upset with my boyfriend and decided to write down 50 things I liked/loved about him. I honestly do NOT know what I was thinking.

While doing this I realized that whatever made me upset, which I still cannot remember, did not matter because I forced myself to think about the good in him. And the reasons why I was with him.

I did not write all 50 of these things in one day. I wrote it in multiple days. Leaving notes on my phone or in my bag. And when I felt like I had enough I put them all together to see if I repeated anything, which I did.

I later realized how therapeutic this exercise was and I came to appreciate him even more.

I decided I was going to give it to him. At first I was going to send it as a text. Then I thought I should put it in a letter. It all led to me cutting it up and putting it in a small jar. luckily for me my boyfriend likes corny things like this.

I also thought about doing “360 things I like <or love> about you” and have him take out a slip of paper every morning just to brighten up his day. But that might actually take months to do.

This gift idea is also under $1. Unless you count the ink and the paper used to print. I’m a creative gift kind of girl and rather get a thought out gift than an expensive one. So this idea came natural to me.

Here’s how it’s made:

  • Write down some characteristics or traits about your significant other (this could be a list or sentence)
  • Get a small jar, or mason jar. These could be recycled jars as well. (ex candle jar).
  • Cut up the saying into individual strips
  • You can fold them up in a zigzag method. Opposite ways.
  • Put the strips in a clean jar and write a little note.

I hope you guys try this method and that it really is as therapeutic as it was for me.

If you try this send me a picture or tag me on social media.
